The Luxury of Microwave Popcorn
There was a time when having popcorn was not such an easy task. The popcorn seeds were purchased in a bag. You would have to heat oil on the stove top, and then add the popcorn. It could take anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes to cook the popcorn. There was also a certain level of skill required to shake the popcorn in the pot in a way that all the kernels cooked and that none was burned. So if you wanted to eat popcorn while you watched a movie, you would have to plan this at least thirty minutes in advance so the popcorn would be ready in time. And if you weren't lucky, you might end up with a couple of new burns from the oil.
Life became a whole lot easier with the introduction of the microwave oven. You no longer have to worry with popcorn seeds, oil, pots, and the right stove temperature. Now you can just put microwave popcorn in the microwave, put the timer on about three and a half minutes and let the previews play while the microwave popcorn is getting ready. Some of the latest models of microwave come preset with a timer for microwave popcorn so all you have to do is press the button that fits the size of the microwave popcorn bag that you have and the microwave times it just right for you.
Popcorn comes in a variety of flavors that weren’t previously available with original forms of popcorn. You can get all kinds of butter flavored microwave popcorn from light butter to ultimate butter to movie theater butter popcorn. Some kinds of microwaves even come with a butter pouch, so you can add as much or as little butter as you wish. There are tastier flavors, too, like nacho cheese, white cheddar cheese, and even caramel.
